Why No One Cares About Item Upgrades

Path of Exile Item Upgrades Upgrades to items are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes. Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade gear because of their higher requirements. Armor Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from other items. The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the extent of its upgrades. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be more heavy. There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of health points while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below. Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is indicated by the “Magic” or “Hybrid” entry in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are identified by the “Charges” entry in the table below. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade. The cheapest method of upgrading armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant boost to stats and are worth the investment, particularly for one-handed weapons. A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will dramatically boost its defense however, the user must be aware that increasing its weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades. Weapons Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of the weapon. For instance, an upgrade may increase the damage dealt by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a sniper rifle. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage). The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by finishing side quests, taking out a certain number of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine. Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade fee that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be less. In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could continue to do this until you reach a max upgrade level of the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would reset. This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a higher chance of granting you the highest tier advantages and benefits. Most players will want to prioritize upgrades to the weapons they most often use to help them level up quicker. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali. Jewels Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, where you combine a gemstone and various chemicals at a table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism. The quality of a diamond can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry. All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels which require you to be at a sufficient level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However you can only swap out a jewel in an item of equipment once. Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often done for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the diamonds create a surface that is harder than metal, so repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause damage as easily. In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved with an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage. Trinkets Trinkets are items of equipment that bestow a wide range of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers. The first trinket a player will unlock is the cloak. It gives a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. boosting items of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded, and only works with certain types of trinkets. These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with hero's ideal stats. A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade just one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones. Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose either a pink or green ward, based on the game's matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities. In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets that form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, like finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. You can see them by selecting the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
